Southwest New Brunswick Liaison Committee

To help us better understand local interests, Emera New Brunswick established the Brunswick Pipeline Southwest NB Community Liaison Committee (SNBCLC) in October 2007.  The committee met on a bi-monthly basis in the communities of Pennfield and Blacks Harbour which are central to the region.

Committee members were provided with Brunswick Pipeline route maps, copies of the environmental protection plan for construction and other materials to help them understand the work and its progress so they could answer questions from the public. Presentations by project specialists and pipeline tours provided more in-depth information and opportunities to see work being done, as well.

All members of the SNBCLC participated in discussions, provided very valuable insight into Charlotte County communities and kept Emera New Brunswick advised of issues and concerns.

As construction was finished and RoW cleanup was carried out, questions and concerns began to subside.  Committee members decided in September 2009 that they had achieved their mandate and elected to disband. The final meeting of the committee was held in November of 2009.

Emera New Brunswick continues to appreciate and work from the community information  provided by the committee.  Rural interests were different from urban interests, and this knowledge has been invaluable to us in operations as well.   The Committee can be recalled into service at the request of committee members or by Emera New Brunswick should new issues arise.
