Application for the Brunswick Pipeline project was filed with the National Energy Board in May 2006. An eight-day project hearing was held in November 2006, and the project was approved on May 31, 2007. Construction began in November 2007 and was completed at the end of January 2009, with natural gas introduced into the pipeline February 10-12, 2009.
Commissioning of the pipeline occurred concurrently with the commissioning of the CanaportTM LNG terminal, bringing the pipeline into service on July 16, 2009.

- January ’08: Arrival of first pipe train and first grading and blasting (Rockwood Park)
- March ’08: First pipe welded & first pipe section buried (Rockwood Park)
- June ’08: Road and water crossings began
- September 14 ’08: 1.3 km pipe section pulled under St. John River
- October 9 ’08: St. John River section testing complete with no issues
- December ’08: Mainline welding complete
- January 25 ’09: Final test completed
- January 26 ’09: Final Weld
- January 31 ’09: Mechanical Completion
- February 6 ‘09: Final Leave to Open received
- February 13 ’09: Natural Gas introduced into the pipeline
- May 24 ’09: Interconnect Piping from Canaport complete
- June ’09: Red Head Meter Station commissioning complete
- July 16 ’09: In-Service with first commercial gas flow
Right-of-way clean-up was completed on October 7, 2009.
